Do’s
- During Grahana period, Men should do Gayathri japa, Vishnu sahasra nama, vayu sthuthi parayana, Rayara stotra parayana etc
- Women can chant/sing Madhwa nama, kesava nama, vijaya kavacha etc
- Tarpana should be given during Madhya kaala
- We should not consume food on this day. for Chandra grahana, 9 hours before grahana period and for surya grahana, 12 hours before grahana period
- Pregnant ladies, sick people, aged people and kids below 8 years can consume food before 10 am on this day
- definitely snana should be done during sparsha kala and moksha kala
- Clean your house after moksha kala
- Anything cooked before grahana should not be eaten at any costs. However Milk, curd, water can be used after moksha kala if we keep a darbha on top of it
- As it is parva kala, the more we do sthothra parayana, danagalu, It gives us immense punya and removes all our sins
- While doing sparsha snaana, we must do the snaana with the clothes we are wearing in
- During Grahana we must do danaa like Godaana, Suvarna Daana, Bhoodana, dhaanya dhaana
- Those who are observing soothaka also must observe Grahana snaana.
- even the rajaswala sthree(Ladies in menstrualcycle) should do snana
- Pregnant ladies should not come out of house, as the rays from Grahana causes health defects on the baby and to be mom.

- Don’t sleep during Grahana period
- Don’t take oil bath
