when is Vedavyasa jayanthi?

Vedavavyasa Jayanthi is celebrated on Vaishaka Shudda Trayodashi and it marks the birthday(Janma dina) of Vedavyasa devaru. He was born to Parashara and Sathyavathi

Other names of Sri Vedavyasa devaru:

1. Krishna Dwaipayana: When sri Vedavyasaru was born, he was dark in complexion and therefore he was called as krishna, and he was born in one of the islands in Yamuna river(Called Dwipa), so he is called as krishna dwaipayana
2. Badarayana : The island was totally covered by Badara (Indian jujube) trees, So he was also referred as badarayana
3. Vasista krishna: He is referred as vasishta krishna as he was dark in complexion and born in lineage of Sage vashista
4. Vedavyasa : He was referred as vedavyasa because he complied the Vedas into four – Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvanaveda
