For Dhanurmaasa neivedhya Huggi, It is must to increase double the quantity of dhal to rice for getting optimum benefits.
Ingredients
- Moong dhal – 2 cups
- Rice – 2 cups
- Jeera/ Cumin seeds – 1tbsp
- Pepper corns – 1 tsp(According to spice level)
- Salt – As per taste
- Cashews – 10 no’s
- Ginger – 1 small inch(Grated/Cut into thin pieces)
- Dry sliced coconut – few(Roast and add) (optional)
- Ghee – 4 to 5 tbl spoon
Preparation:
Dry roast moong dal(Optional step)
Take Moong dal and Rice in a bowl. Rinse it and add double / triple the quantity of rice and dal. for example if 3 cups(2 dhal + 1 Rice), You can add 6 to 8 cups of water. Pressure cook the dhal and rice mix. Allow 5 whistles to get mushy result
Take a pan and add 1 tbl spoon Ghee. Roast cashews in it and keep aside

In the same pan, if you are adding dry coconut, roast it also
Once the pressure settles down, Take out the cooked rice dhal mix, add salt to it and stir with the back of the ladle to get more mushy state

Now heat the pan with the rest of ghee, Season with Jeera, once jeera starts sizzling add Peppercorns, grated ginger, curry leaves(optional)

Add this seasoned mixture to the dhal rice mix
Give a nice stir so that everything combines together well

Add generously ghee on top of it and Keep it as Neivedhya
Huggi is ready.
